About the Soifer Mathematical Olympiad
Approximately 20,000 students have participated throughout the 37 years of the Colorado Mathematical Olympiad. They have written roughly 97,250 essays and were awarded over $440,000 in prizes. The Olympiad is a unique joint effort of school districts, schools, industry, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and City and State governments.
Mind Games at UCCS; Olympians conquer Olympiad
On October 7, 2022 over 150 Olympians came from all over Colorado to participate in the 38th Soifer Mathematical Olympiad.
Young Olympians shine in the 37th Soifer Mathematical Olympiad
On Oct. 1, 2021, middle and high school Olympians came from all over Colorado to visit UCCS. They were offered five problems and given four hours to solve them and present complete essay-type solutions.

Thirtieth Colorado Mathmatical Olympiad – 30 Years of Excellence Video
For 30 years, middle and high school students have attended the UCCS Colorado Math Olympiad, a mathematical competition founded by UCCS professor, Dr. Alex Soifer, in which students are asked to solve five problems in four hours, presenting their results in essay-type solutions. After the event, the students return to campus to learn answers to the questions, names of competition winners, and to hear comments from previous winners and judges. The top winners receive scholarships to be applied to the 4-year institution of their choice.
